Richard Goldhar, B.Comm., CIRP, LIT

Licensed Insolvency Trustee

After analyst roles with Toronto insolvency firms Soberman and Meyers Norris Penny, Richard joined BDO Canada (Mississauga offices) to complete his professional accreditation. He began his professional practice as a licensed trustee in bankruptcy in June 2013 with BDO, and then founded Goldhar & Associates Ltd. in November 2013. Richard’s experience in CA-dominated insolvency firms has inspired him to stay true to his values and create a professional practice centered around the financial and personal needs of his clients.

Richard lives in Toronto with his wife, Jennifer Shupak, a personal injury lawyer at Capp Shupak, and their three young sons. As a family, Richard and Jennifer are committed to philanthropy and the tradition of giving back to the community, and they are ongoing supporters of many charitable endeavors.

Eight Years of Corporate Banking experience with a major Indian Bank including two years of dedicated stressed asset resolution services. This was followed by two years of Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Resolution experience with Duff & Phelps, a major Financial Consulting firm.

Joel Kideckel, CIRP, LIT, CPA, CPA (VT)

Licensed Insolvency Trustee

Joel is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee, Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional and a Chartered Professional Accountant.

Joel has been in the insolvency and restructuring field for more than 20 years, the first decade specializing in corporate insolvencies and restructuring of small to mid-size companies. He also provided mid-market insolvency services to financial institutions.

In 2009, Joel joined MNP, a national accounting and insolvency firm and began to provide insolvency advise to individuals who are in financially difficult situations. Joel delivers advice and solutions that help individuals faced with debt to overcome their challenges and achieve their financial goals.

Drawing on his extensive background in corporate and personal insolvency, Joel provides expert advice to individuals, professionals, and small businesses. He conducts personalized analyses of each financial situation and provides practical options to solve financial problems.

Joel has spoken before accounting and legal associations, providing insightful information to help professionals better serve their clients. In previous years, Joel was a member of the committee grading the National Insolvency Examination, which is the final step in obtaining the CIRP professional designation.
